Children born in wedlock to parents with Greek citizenship,
And Children born in mixed marriages from May 8th 1984 and until today
1. If you have a birth certificate issued by the Consular of Greece Abroad:
Required Documents:
– The certified copy of the Consular Report of Birth.
– The applicant must have a valid identity card or passport to declare the birth.
The birth can be registered at the Special Civic Registry: a) by one of the parents if the child is underage b) by the interested person itself provided that she/he is 18 years of age c) by a duly authorized third party; such authorization must be certified by ΚΕΠ1 d) by a qualified lawyer duly authorized; such authorization must be certified by ΚΕΠ.
2. Birth certificate issued by a Civic Registry Office abroad:
Required Documents:
– The birth certificate legally certified2
– An official translation3 in Greek of the birth certificate,
– The Family Status Certificate4 . The Family Status Certificate must be issued within the last six (6) months.
– The applicant must have a valid identity document or passport to declare the birth.
The birth can be registered at the Special Civic Registry: a) by the parents if the child is underage b) by the interested person itself provided that she/he is 18 years of age c) by a duly authorized third party by means of notarized Special Power of Attorney d) by a lawyer duly authorized; by means of notarized Special Power of Attorney5 e) by any person who has a legitimate interest.
3. Birth and Baptism certificate issued by the church authorities abroad:
Required Documents:
– Original baptism certificate issued by the church authority in Greek, certified religious ministers of the respective doctrine or religion, in Athens; (For Orthodox Certificates: Address: Moni Petraki Iasiou 1, Athens– behind the metro station Evaggelismos).
– Permission issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Athens (Scholi Evelpidon, (Address: Evelpidon 10, building 16, office 8-10),
– The parents’ marriage certificate,
– A Family Status Certificate6 of the parents issued by the municipality (where the parents are registered in Greece). The Family Status Certificate must be issued within the last six (6) months.
– The applicant must have a valid identification document or passport.
– Receipts of fee paid to the Public Financial Service (Δ.Ο.Υ) or the fee can be paid from eparavolo https://www1.gsis.gr/sgsisapps/eparavolo/public/welcome.htm .
– No fee is required if the birth is declared within the first 90 days.
– if the registration takes place between the 90th and 180th day a fee of 5.40 euro is required to be paid at the Public Financial Service (Δ.Ο.Υ) or the fee can be paid through eparavolo: Code number 3826 for 5.40 Euros.
– if the registration takes place after 180 days from the birth, a fee 15.60 euro is required to be paid at the Public Financial Service (Δ.Ο.Υ) or the fee can be paid through eparavolo: Code number 3827 for 15.60 Euros.
The birth can be registered at the Special Civic Registry: a) by one of the parents if the child is underage b) by the interested person itself provided that she/he is 18 years of age c) by a duly authorized third party; by means of notarized Special Power of Attorney d) by a lawyer duly authorized; by means of notarized Special Power of Attorney e) by any person who has a legitimate interest.
4. If there is a final judicial decision of a Greek Court:
Required documents:
– The final judicial decision;
– The Service Report;
– Certification from the Office of the Court which issued the decision, certifying that no ordinary or extraordinary appeal has been lodged. It must be issued one month after the service report;
– The parents’ Family Status Certificate7 from the Municipality where they are registered. The Family Status Certificate must be issued within the last six (6) months.
– The applicant must have a valid identification or passport to declare the birth.
The birth is registered a) by one of the parents if the child is underage b) by the interested person itself provided that she/he is 18 years of age c) by a duly authorized third party by means of notarized Special Power of Attorney d) by a lawyer duly authorized by means of notarized Special Power of Attorney. e) by any other person who has a legitimate interest.
