Persons entitled to vote
All Greek citizens are entitled to vote where:
- they are aged over 17.
- they are registered in an electoral roll of some municipality or community in Greece.
- They have not been deprived of their voting rights.
Persons not entitled to vote
The following persons are not entitled to vote:
- Persons who pursuant to the provisions of the Hellenic Civil Code have been fully deprived of their right to exercise their civil rights on their own.
- All those persons so deprived by virtue of an irrevocable criminal sentence for one of the crimes cited in the Penal and Military Penal Code for such time as that deprivation persists.
Where to vote
Voters exercise their electoral rights in the municipality in whose Municipal Rolls they are registered. Voters residing in a municipality, of a different electoral constituency, other than the one in the electoral rolls of which they are registered, may vote in separate or mixed polling stations set up in the capital of the electoral constituency of their residence. All voters may be informed about the polling station in which they will vote at by consulting the decision published by the respective Deputy Head of the Region at least 15 days after the start of the pre-election period, which will be dispatched to the Municipalities within the Prefecture.
How to vote
Voters should go to the polling station and present themselves to the returning board which will examine their identification and verify whether they are registered in the electoral rolls. Voters will enter the polling station one by one or in groups of small numbers in the order they arrive or in the manner laid down by each returning board.
Voters, in order to be identified when proceeding to exercise their right to vote, have to present their ID card or a temporary certificate of the competent authority or their passport or their driving license or their personal health booklet issued by any insurance fund. Note that even ID cards that are no longer being used (issued prior to the last issued ID card of the voter) are also acceptable.
The returning board will provide each voter with a specially marked envelope signed by the court representative and stamped by the board as well as a full set of ballot papers for all party-lists and individual candidates.
Voters who are physically incapable of performing the above tasks are entitled to turn to the court representative or a member of the returning board for assistance. These persons are obliged to provide such assistance to voters.
Voters are prohibited from placing ballot papers in the ballot box a ) if not placed within the specially marked envelope or if the envelope is unsealed and b) if the voter has not first pulled the curtain around the polling booth.
Where so requested, voters will be provided with a certificate signed by the chairman of the returning board and bearing its stamp that he/she voted.

Where do judges, civil servants and clerics vote?
Judges, civil servants in general and clerics may exercise their electoral rights in the constituency either in the municipality where they are registered or at their place of residence in their capacity as persons registered in one place but resident elsewhere, voting for the party-list and candidates in the constituency where they are registered.
Where do court representatives and members of returning boards vote?
Court representatives vote at the polling station at which they are discharging their duties for party-lists and candidates in the constituency in which that polling station falls. Members of returning boards and all substitute court representatives not actively discharging their duties shall vote at a polling station within the purview of the returning board determined by it, in other words for party-lists and candidates from the constituency within which the polling station is located. These persons shall only vote where they are registered in an electoral roll in a municipality in Greece. To this end they should provide a Solemn Statement referring to the municipality in which they are registered.
Where do court representatives discharging duties in special polling stations for persons registered in one place and resident in other vote?
Court representatives discharging their duties in polling stations solely for persons registered in one place and resident in other shall vote for party-lists and candidates coming from the constituency representing the majority of such voters at that polling station.
Court representatives discharging their duties in polling stations which are not solely for persons registered in one place and resident in other shall vote for party-lists and candidates coming from any constituency of their choosing representing persons registered in one place and resident in other at that polling station.
Where do electoral guards vote?
In the case where a compliment of guards is deployed to guard a polling station, these persons (who may not number more than 4) shall vote at the polling station they are guarding. These voters shall vote only if they are registered in the special electoral rolls of persons serving in the Hellenic Police Force or other Security Forces. These electoral rolls require the approval of the relevant Court of First Instance. The chairman of the returning board or the person managing its work shall issue a report that the persons who voted at the polling station as members of his guard did in fact belong to that guard.
Where do soldiers, police officers, coast guard officers and fire men vote?
Voters serving in the Hellenic Police Force, the Fire Brigade, the Armed Forces and the Coast Guard and who are registered in special electoral rolls shall vote at the place where they are on duty on Election Day for the party-list and candidates in the constituency in which their service is based.
These voters shall identify themselves to the returning board by presenting their military or service ID cards.
Where do seamen vote?
Greek seamen serving on vessels flying under the Greek flag who are registered in special electoral rolls shall vote for party-lists and candidates in the constituency within which the polling station at which they exercise their right to vote at falls.
