







{"id":95460,"date":"2019-04-04T09:49:36","date_gmt":"2019-04-04T06:49:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ypes.gr\/?page_id=95460"},"modified":"2020-06-30T11:28:01","modified_gmt":"2020-06-30T08:28:01","slug":"adoptions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ypes.gr\/en\/adoptions\/","title":{"rendered":"ADOPTIONS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>1.<\/strong><strong> Greek citizens who adopt a minor born abroad with Foreign Court Order<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Required documents:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Legally certified Final Court Order<sup>1<\/sup>\u00a0issued by the foreign court;<\/li>\n<li>Official translation<sup>2<\/sup>\u00a0of the court judgment issued in a foreign language;<\/li>\n<li>A decision issued by a Greek court on the recognition of the final judgment issued by the foreign court, where applicable;<\/li>\n<li>Adoptive parents Family Status<sup>3<\/sup>\u00a0issued by the Municipality in Greece.\u00a0The Family status must be issued within the last six months.<\/li>\n<li>The applicant must have a valid identification document or passport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>The adopted minor is registered at the Special Civil Registry by: a) by one of the parents b) by a duly authorized third party; by means of notarized Special Power of Attorney c) by a lawyer; by means of notarized Special Power of Attorney d) if the adoptee is an adult he\/she may register his\/her adoption.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If the natural parents of the adopted child are Greek nationals, the adoption is registered on the birth registration document which has been issued by the Special Civil Registry as an amendment.<\/li>\n<li>If the natural parents of the adopted child are foreign nationals, an Adoption Report is prepared in Special Civil Registry Department or before the competent Greek Consular Authority abroad, which is executed by the Special Civil Registry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2. Adoption of a minor by Greek citizens, which takes place through an adoption order issued by a Greek court. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If he adoptive parents have their permanent residence in Greece, the Registry Office of the area where the court decision was issued, is the responsible authority for registering the adoption. <strong>Adoption of an adult born abroad and adopted by a Greek citizen, through an adoption order issued by a foreign court <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Adoption of an adult born abroad and adopted by a Greek citizen, through an adoption order issued by a foreign court <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The adoption of an adult born abroad by a parent with Greek citizenship through<strong> an adoption order issued by a foreign court can take place only if the adoptive parent is the spouse of the natural parent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Required documents:<br \/>\n<\/u>\u2022 Legally certified Final Court Order<sup>4<\/sup>\u00a0issued by the foreign court;<br \/>\n\u2022 Official translation<sup>5<\/sup>\u00a0of the court judgment issued in a language other than Greek;<br \/>\n\u2022 A decision issued by a Greek court on the recognition of the final judgment issued by the foreign court, where applicable;<br \/>\n\u2022 Certified Family Status from the municipality of the adoptive parents.
